VR Santa sleigh ride experience

Ever wanted to have a ride on Santa’s Sleigh? 

Take a flight with Santa’s helper Dash on board Santa’s own sleigh this Christmas, open from Thursday 1st December and until Christmas Eve. Put on your VR headset and take a trip around the North Pole, take in the sights, sounds and even the breeze of the North Pole with this 4D 360-degree experience that is sure to get the whole family in the Christmas spirit. 

This experience will run from 1st December to 24th December. Passes can be purchased for £4 per person with a group booking discount available and children aged 2 years and under go free.   

What to expect 

This virtual reality experience will transport you to the magical world of the North Pole. Come into Santa’s Cabin and you’ll be seamlessly transported into the sleigh where Dash will take you on a test drive around the North Pole in preparation for Christmas Day.  

Santa’s Sleigh is a full 4D experience: the HD VR headsets give a full 360-degree picture, the ride has full range of motions in addition to fans and complete surround sound.     

  • Once you have purchased your pass either online or via the ticket desk, please join the queue to board the sleigh  
  • Make sure any personal belongings, bags, or loose items that these are stored safely away from the ride before boarding.  
  • You will be given your pre ride talk and headsets by the ride operator  
  • The ride journey will last approximately 5 minutes   
  • Once the ride has finished, please remain seated until the ride operator has collected all the headsets  
  • Collect your belongings and exit the event space  

If you are prone to any of the following: motion sickness, vertigo, epilepsy or have a history of seizures we suggest that you may want to join the ride without the headset, we also advise you sit at the front of the ride.   

This experience is suitable for children and adults over the age of 3, this is due to VR headsets needing to be worn. Any children under the age of 3 can go on the ride but must sit on an accompanying adult’s knee due to the ride moving and no seatbelt provision. (You will not need to purchase a ticket for this child)  

All children between the ages of 3 and 8 will need to be accompanied by an adult

  • What is VR ride?
    This virtual reality experience offers a festive, immersive experience for anyone looking for a Christmas treat the whole family can enjoy. Come into Santa’s cabin and once aboard his sleigh, you will be seamlessly transported to the the North Pole where Dash will take you for a trip with surprises and thrills around every corner. Along with the sights and sounds you will experience the incredible range of motions of the cart; two front fans and surround sound will offer a full 4D experience. Tilting forwards, backwards and side to side, the cart’s movements have been specially designed to mirror those of the full 360 degree experience, making sure that you see all the North pole has to offer, what adventures will Dash take you on?
  • Where is the VR ride located?
    It is located on level 1 outside of the Winter Woodland which is opposite Skechers and next to Clarks.
  • What age is the VR ride suitable for?
    This ride is suitable for the whole family however smaller children may enjoy the ride more without the VR headsets due to their size.
  • How do I buy tickets for the VR Ride?
    Tickets can be purchased in advance via Derbion.com a limited number of tickets can be purchased in Centre at the VR ride ticket desk each day. We do still recommend you book in advance as tickets are limited per day and are likely to get booked quickly. Tickets cannot be refunded or transferred to another date. Please note that you cannot purchase or make changes to your tickets via our Customer Service Desk or Reception
  • Will I receive a ticket once I have booked?
    Once you have placed your booking, you will receive an e-mail which will include your booking reference confirmation of payment and your E-ticket.
  • Do I need to print my tickets, or can I just bring them on my phone or smart device?
    You can bring your ticket confirmation with you either printed out or on your mobile device.
  • When should I arrive?
    As this ride has a total journey time of 5 minutes you will be unable to specify the time you wish to ride, we recommend turning up at the time you wish to ride. However please note that you may have to wait in a queue.
  • Can we take photographs?
    You can take personal photos of your family/friends before and after the ride, but we ask you not to take photos once the ride is in motion.
  • Do you have toilets in the VR ride event space?
    There are no toilets in the event space, the nearest toilets are located nearby on level 1 opposite Sainsburys. It is advised to visit the toilet before entering.

  • Can we eat and drink on the ride?
    We ask that you don’t eat or drink while on the ride or in the event space.
  • I’ve left something, where will it be?
    All items that are left behind will be kept safe by our ride operator until the end of the day, after this it will be taken to Customer Service team to be looked after until you come back.
  • Is there wheelchair access?
    Unfortunately, there is not wheelchair access for this ride and there are multiple small steps to enter the cart. However, if you wish to sit at the aside of the ride and use the VR headset then you are more than welcome to do this.
  • What should I expect from the VR ride?
    Once you have purchased your pass to ride either online or via the ticket desk please queue up and wait your turn to board the cart

    - Make sure if you have any personal belongings, bags, or loose items that these are stored safely away from the ride before boarding.
    - You will be given your pre ride talk and headsets by the ride operator
    - The ride journey will last a total of 5 minutes
    - Once the ride is complete, please remain seated until the ride operator has collected all the headsets
    - Collect your belongings and try and enjoy the rest of your day
  • Can I ride if I get motion sickness?
    If you are prone to any of the following: motion sickness, vertigo, epilepsy or have a history of seizures we suggest that you may want to join the ride without the headset, we also advise you sit at the front of the ride.
  • Can I stand next to the ride while my friends/family are on it?
    No, you cannot approach the ride while it is in motion, please make sure you stand clear until the ride has finished.
  • I wear glasses can I wear these under the headsets?
    Yes, the headsets can be adjusted to fit your comfortably, meaning there will be plenty of room to keep your glasses on underneath them
  • If I am no longer enjoying the ride can it be stopped?
    In the case of an emergency the ride can be stopped, we would suggest taking off your headset and talking to the ride operator. Do not stand up or leave the ride while it is in motion.
